Our Story

It all started in the fall of 1977 when our founder, a young high school graduate from Ghana, left her home in West Africa for the University of Minnesota in Duluth to further her education. Ever present in her mind was a promise to herself to bring to America, her new home, and to the world, the rich flavored Ghana Jollof rice she enjoyed so much growing up. Now, she has done just that. Enjoy Maame Jollof!

Jollof rice is a favorite West African rice dish. It has now become the subject of friendly debate, particularly among people from Ghana, Nigeria, and Senegal, as to which flavor is the best. We have added our own touch and have settled the matter here. Maame Jollof! The clear winner! Enjoy!
